Silverlight development framework is currently only supported on Internet Explorer 10 and Internet Explorer 11, with support for Internet Explorer 10 ending on January 31, 2020. There is no longer support for Chrome, Firefox, or any browser using the Mac operating system. To answer today's 2012-11-26 05:07:51 PST post - There is no choice, the Mozilla referred page link I gave produces an Msoft Silverlight install page which does an auto check on the submitting computer's configuration, and then provides the 'correct' version for download with either Windows or Mac options.

Prior to Firefox 52, I was able to configure Silverlight & Pipelight as NPAPI plugins in Firefox. I use Linux Mint 18.1 I have one website that requires Silverlight, and it's important to my business needs. Now, I am dependent on Windows 7 & IE11 in VirtualBox to complete my work. The best suggestion I've found is to install the Windows 32 version of Firefox ESR in Wine 2.2 as it emulates Windows 7 Suggestion: https://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/2028
